The overall concept of mine, with Colour by Numbers, is to get together a group of artists whose work combines/interacts numeracy with colour. This interaction could be for example interpreted by our western rendition of numbers, or could be taken from other cultures and their symbolism, or other systems that follow a sequence or add together. After having this initial show in the spring 2003, we are to work on putting a proposal/brochure together featuring ourselves and other interested artists. This has been delayed by a few months (due mainly to the production of this website). But eventually, it is intended to include images of all of the artists work, photo of artist, biography and either written statements or, a general written piece that will pull material from existing statements. and text about the concept of the show in general. On this last point, one of the ideas is to have a small written piece by someone, such as a colour scientist, mathematician, numerologist, that could write something about the link between colour and numbers from a non-art perspective.

Originally selected from an ad in AN magazine, Steven and Chris and a few others were chosen. I really just wanted to see what was out there working in the same general area as me. CBN will have a loose agenda, it could grow into a formal group, have frequent or infrequent shows, not every artist would necessarily need to show in every show I really don't know yet.
